Here’s all you need to know about the issue, and how to possibly fix it.

Why has the Google app been crashing?

The Google app crashing issues appear to be related to a recent update pushed out by the company.

Some users have reported the crashing on update version 12.23.16.23.arm64 and 12.22.8.23 of the Google app. The issues have also been reported on beta version 12.24.7.29 of the app.

You can check what version of the app you have by visiting the Google Play Store.

According to the Google apps Play Store listing, its versions can vary across different devices so you may be experiencing app crashes on a completely different version.

The problem is related to a range of the phones’ built-in Google apps. Most users are reporting issues with the Google app, but the issues have spread to affect the Google Podcast service and the Google Assistant app.

The problems seem to be present on a range of Android devices, including Samsung and Google’s own Pixel devices.

If you haven’t updated your Google app yet, hold off from doing so until the issue is fixed.

The official Made by Google Twitter account has suggested a soft reboot of the phone will fix the issue.

The fix has worked for some users, but others have reported that restarting the phone has not solved the problem.

Another solution is to try and uninstall the latest update to the Google app. This can be done by going to the phone’s Settings app. Select Apps under Device category. Select the app that needs a downgrade. Choose “force strop” to add protection to the app. Tapp on the three-dotted menu at the top right corner. Finally, select the uninstall updates button that appears.

Another solution available is to uninstall and then reinstall WebView from the Google Play Store. This has been a successful fix for several users.

A final fix to the crashing is to sign up for the Google app beta via the Play Store.
