What is in Hurghada?
Hurghada City is the second biggest town on the Red Sea and, thanks to its world-renowned coral reefs, one of Egypt’s busiest holiday destinations. Hundreds of hotels and restaurants are dotted along its serpentine coastline.
Dozens of private hotel beaches form a necklace along the scenic shoreline. They all have soft white sands, which shelve gently into the turquoise sea, so armband-clad children can paddle safely. And just off the coast are coral gardens, reefs and World War II wrecks where bright shoals of fish part and reform as you swim through them. Hurghada City has a long list of professional dive centres that can take you to the reefs. With so much competition, the standards are high.

The scarlet-amber sunsets over the Sahara Desert truly are a sight to behold - watching the shimmering sun rise over the Red Sea is equally as spectacular - and will make for memories to last a lifetime. 4. Private islands
It’s not hard to find a private spot around Hurghada, but Mahmya Island is amongst the most serene you can find around the Egyptian resort city. A short and tranquil boat journey across the Red Sea from Hurghada port to Mahmya Island will take you around half an hour, and it’s a great place to spend a day. You can snorkel through the incredible coral reefs just off the island, but if that’s not your bag, there’s plenty of relaxing to be done on the beach, cocktails to drink on the shady island bar, and delicious hot food prepared under shaded canopies.
