It was with a heavy heart that Celine Dion announced she could no longer go on with her Courage World Tour on Friday afternoon, as the singer’s health continued to deteriorate.

The 55-year-old was diagnosed with a rare neurological disease that affects one in a million people, known as Stiff Person Syndrome a couple of years ago.

The Quebecoise hitmaker was forced to postpone shows in 2021 due to muscle spasms but continued to soldier on last year, as the name of her Courage World Tour suggests, and perform 50 shows across North America before having to cancel the European leg which was scheduled to start in February.

Despite trying to work on controlling her muscle spasms, Celine announced on Instagram: “It is with tremendous disappointment that we have to announce today the cancellation of the Courage World Tour.

“I’m so sorry to disappoint all of you once again. I’m working really hard to build back my strength, but touring can be very difficult even when you’re 100%. It’s not fair to you to keep postponing the shows, and even though it breaks my heart, it’s best that we cancel everything now until I’m really ready to be back on stage again. I want you all to know, I’m not giving up… and I can’t wait to see you again!” – Celine xx…”

The ‘My Heart Will Go On’ crooner stated that people who had already purchased tickets for the upcoming 42 shows could get their money back through their ‘original point of sale’ such as Ticketmaster.
