UK hotel chain Travelodge declares the 4th of September 'National Me-Time Day' for parents in need of a well-deserved break as kids make their way back to school this week.

Calm will be restored this week as children go back to school, marking a well-deserved break for parents.

In response, Travelodge has marked the 4th of September 'National ‘Me Time’ Day' to celebrate parents, the unsung heroes of the summer.

Following a nationwide survey, the hotel chain has found that almost half of parents feel like they need time out to recover from the school holidays and that an astonishing fifth of parents admit to booking a child-free break this week as school kicks off again.

Additional data from the survey shows over 30% of parents found personal time challenging during the school holidays, and despite almost one in five admitting to being sad to see their kids go back to school, over a third said they felt relieved.

A spokesman said: “Who says that parents can’t get a little bit of ‘me time’ after they’ve spent a long summer looking after the kids? We’ve declared 4th September National ‘Me Time’ Day to celebrate all the effort parents put into the summer holidays. We encourage parents to seize the moment and do something for themselves and for those planning a night away, Better get a Travelodge.”
