A taxi driver brutally murdered almost 40 years ago, a banker shot on his doorstep in Scotland, and a woman killed in her own home in Darlington are among the shocking cases which have never been solved.
The victims range in age from missing 14-year-old Sarah Benford who is believed to have been murdered, to 69-year-old Nora Tait.
Among the unsolved murders are that of Alistair Wilson who was shot dead on his doorstep in Nairn in 2004
Meanwhile, the killer of George Murdoch still remains at large. The taxi driver was attacked with a cheese wire while working in Aberdeen on 29 September, 1983.
Police have continued to hunt for those responsible for the murders in order to get justice for the victims and their loved ones.

5. DC Jim Morrison
Met Police officer DC Jim Morrison, 26, was off-duty when he was stabbed in Montreal Place, Covent Garden on 13 December 1991, following a struggle with a man he was trying to arrest for a suspected bag theft. On the night of the incident he had gone to the Nell Gwynne pub at Bull Inn Court for around an hour from 8pm, before deciding to head home. However, a group of at least three bag snatchers had recently been working in the area to steal women’s’ purses and handbags - and that night a handbag had been stolen from the Maple Leaf pub in Maiden Lane. Jim was seen involved in a struggle with a man outside the London Transport Museum shortly after 10pm. At the time of the attack the suspect was described as being of Algerian or North African appearance, 5ft 10 inches tall and aged approximately 27 to 30. He was of medium build, clean shaven and had dark collar length hair, with distinctive tight curls at the front. He was wearing a waist length tan/brown leather jacket.
6. Yvonne Fitt
Yvonne Fitt’s body was found in Lindley Wood, near Otley, South Yorkshire, on 12 September 1992. She had been stabbed to death.
Yvonne, who was from the Leeds area, had been missing since 16 January 1992 and was last seen in Bradford when she would have been 32-years-old.
At the time of her murder she worked in the red light districts of Leeds and Bradford.
Since then detectives have continued to investigate her death – including a full reconstruction on BBC programme Crimewatch in 1992, but no one has ever been brought to justice for her death.
In 2019, police appealed for a caller to the show to get back in touch.
A number of calls had been received after the show including one from an anonymous individual naming a suspect.
7. Julie Finley
Julie Finley, 23, disappeared from Liverpool city centre on 5 August in 1994. She was last seen alive at the back of the Royal Liverpool University Hospital while speaking to a man believed to be aged in his 20s or 30s. Her naked body was discovered the following day in a field close to a lay-by in Rainford, St Helens. Last year on the 27th anniversary of her murder Crimestoppers offered a £10,000 reward for information that would lead to the arrest and conviction of the person or person responsible for her death.
8. John Kennedy
John Kennedy was murdered 25 years ago in a pub.
He was stabbed on Saturday, 8 February, 1997 shortly before 6am inside The Railway Arms pub, in Tower Hamlets, London. On the night before his death, the father-of-two had gone out with friends visiting several pubs before arriving at the Railway Arms at around 3am. There were around 60 people inside the pub at that time. John was approached by a suspect and an animated conversation took place which escalated to John, 31, being attacked and stabbed. As he collapsed on the floor of the pub, the suspect fled the premises with another man before leaving in a vehicle.
Last month on the 25th anniversary of his murder detectives from the Metropolitan Police announced a £30,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of his killer.
