Terrifying moment motorcyclist loses control in Norfolk Police ‘one bend, one mistake’ video
The terrifying moment a biker lost control has been released by police in their ‘one bend, one mistake’ video.
Newly-released police video shows the terrifying moment a biker was thrown from his motorcycle into the road - narrowly avoiding oncoming traffic. The rider, identified only as Harry, was filmed as he rode home near Nordelph, Norfolk, on April 25 when he approached a bend at speed.
Harry, who had been out with friends, lost control of his motorbike, only just avoiding an oncoming car. He was thrown into the road where he miraculously escaped with only minor cuts and bruises.
In the video, entitled ‘One bend, one mistake’, Norfolk Police revealed the moment Harry swerves uncontrollably and crashes across the road. Harry's survival was partly due to wearing the appropriate protective equipment, including a suitable helmet and leathers.
Norfolk Police said Harry, not his real name, chose to share the footage of the incident to highlight how quickly things can go wrong, particularly for less experienced or younger riders.

Attending officer, PC Alex Williams said: “I’m really grateful the rider walked away with only minor injuries. It could easily have been much worse - just a split second or a small change in position could have made a huge difference. The safety gear he was wearing clearly took a big hit and likely prevented something far more serious.”
And the officer said the moment Harry’s father arrived on the scene will stay with him, and added: “I won’t forget when his dad arrived after getting an alert on his phone. Before I could even reassure him, you could see the worst was already going through his mind."
The video was released as part of the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC) two-wheel campaign this June, which focuses on reducing risk and improving safety for motorcyclists and cyclists.
