A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving following the crash in Wickersley, near Rotherham, on Sunday (June 2). He has now been released on bail as enquiries continue, our sister title Yorkshire Post reports.
Police said the crash happened shortly after 4pm, when a silver Land Rover Discovery and silver Subaru Forester were involved in a crash on Morthen Road at the junction with Moat Lane. Mackenzie, who was a passenger in the Land Rover, died at the scene.
The driver and three passengers inside the Subaru ran away from the scene, and police are now trying to find them. Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Inspector Matt Bolger, said: “We have now declared our investigation into this man’s death a murder investigation.
