Actor Alec Baldwin and his wife Hilaria Baldwin have announced that their already large family is getting even bigger, with another baby on the way.

The news comes after Baldwin, 63, accidentally shot and killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, 42, when a gun he was holding went off during filming for the Western film Rust in New Mexico in October 2021.

Director Joel Souza was also wounded in the shooting on the Bonanza Creek Ranch set near Santa Fe.

How many children does Alec Baldwin have?

Baldwin and his wife Hilaria currently have six children together, which will soon grow to seven following their recent pregnancy announcement.

Baldwin also has another daughter, Ireland, who is now 26, whom he had with his first wife, Kim Basinger.

Baldwin and Basinger married in 1993, after meeting on the set of the film The Marrying Man. Basinger gave birth to their daughter in 1995 and the two went their separate ways in 2000 before divorcing in 2002.

When did Alec Baldwin and wife Hilaria announce their latest pregnancy?

On Instagram, Hilaria posted a video of her, Baldwin and their children laughing and hugging set to a cover of the song Can’t Take My Eyes off You by Frankie Valli.

In the caption, Hilaria wrote: “After many ups and downs over the past few years, we have an exciting up and a huge surprise: another Baldwinito is coming this fall.

“We were pretty sure our family was complete, and we’re beyond happy with this surprise.

“I’m sharing with you the moment we told the kids—as you can see, they are super excited!

“Our new baby is a very bright spot in our lives. A blessing and a gift during such uncertain times.

“I’ve missed you during my break from social media…I’m back and looking forward to continuing with you this wild journey that we call “life.”

“Our love to you and your loved ones.”

Baldwin reposted the video and the caption to his own Instagram account as well.

In a joint statement given to People, the couple added: “We have ‘somos un buen equipo’ engraved on our wedding bands. We say that to each other all the time at home - that we’re a good team.

“One of the most beautiful things my children have experienced with a big family is how the heart can grow with every new sibling.

“Our capacity to love continues to expand and we can’t wait to embrace our new little one this fall!”

Who is Hilaria Baldwin?

Hilaria, born Hillary Lynn Hayward-Thomas, is an American yoga instructor and co-founder of Yoga Vida, a chain of New York based yoga studios. Hilaria has also released an exercise DVD, called @ Home with Hilaria Baldwin: Fit Mommy-to-Be Prenatal Yoga, and published a book titled The Living Clearly Method.

In December 2020, Hilaria faced allegations that she was faking her Spanish accent and that she had purposefully misled people about both her ethnicity and nationality.

She was forced to talk about the situation when a post went viral on Twitter, which stated: “You have to admire Hilaria Baldwin’s commitment to her decade long grift where she impersonates a Spanish person.”

In a 2016 interview with Hola!, it stated that Hilaria “was born in Spain” and “has made certain to raise her children with her native language, Spanish”.

During TV appearances, she spoke with a Spanish accent and at one point appeared to forget the English word for “cucumber” during a cooking segment on the Today Show.

Her agency at the time also incorrectly listed her birthplace as Mallorca.

However, fans were left confused when she posted an Instagram video where she spoke with a regular American accent. After it was discovered that her real name was Hillary, not Hilaria, alleged former classmates of the yoga instructor came forward to share their experiences with Hilaria.

One tweeted: “I went to high school with her. Genuinely lovely person, I recall, but fully another white girl from Cambridge.”

While Hilaria was listed as an alum of the Cambridge School of Weston, in Massachusettes, she said in an interview with Motherhood, Marriage & Miscarriages that she had moved to New York from Spain at 19 to attend NYU.

She took to Instagram to clarify some points about her Spanish heritage, in which she said that she was born in Boston and that she had spent some of her childhood in Boston and other parts of her childhood in Spain.

Hilaria said that she had grown up as bilingual, speaking both English and Spanish, and that “if I’ve been speaking a lot of Spanish, I tend to mix them or if I’m speaking a lot of English, I mix that, it’s one of those things I’ve always been a bit insecure about”.

She added that, growing up in America she would go by Hillary and in Spain she would go by Hilaria.

She said: “One of the things I love about what my parents called me, it means happy in both languages, we can all be really clear that it’s the same name, it’s just a few letters different, we shouldn’t be so upset about it.

“Whatever you guys want to call me, I will respond to both.”

She explained that, prior to meeting Alec Baldwin, she had decided to “consolidate” her name and opted to go exclusively by Hilaria, as that’s the name that her family uses for her.

In the video, she said: “Yes I am a white girl, my family is white… Europe has a lot of white people in them. Ethnically I am a mix of many, many things.”

How long have Hilaria and Alec Baldwin been together?

Baldwin and Hilaria started dating in 2011 after the two met by chance.

To celebrate their eight year anniversary, Baldwin shared the story of their meeting on Instagram, where he wrote: “Eight years ago, I wandered into Pure Food and Wine on Irving Place, on an unseasonably warm February evening.

“My friend, @bocarist, and I sat down (outside!) and as I turned to my left I saw a woman who would change my life. Entirely. Eight years today. Thanks for all you’ve given me. You are a gift.”

Hilaria also told the New York Times that she “was standing near the door with my friends when he walked up and took my hand and said, “I must know you””, to which she replied, “You must know me?” after which “he gave me his card”.

A year and a half after first meeting, in April 2012, the two were engaged.

A rep for Baldwin confirmed the news to People, saying: “Yes, it’s true! Alec proposed to Hilaria this weekend and we’re all excited for the newly engaged couple.

“Alec’s birthday is tomorrow - great way to celebrate!”

Baldwin, who was 53 at the time of their wedding, tied the knot with the then 28-year-old Hilaria in New York City, at St Patrick’s Old Cathedral.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Hilaria said: “Five months into our relationship, we got an apartment together; then we started talking about getting married; then he proposed; then we got married; now we have a kid.

“So it all went quite fast!”
