Courteney Cox: how long has Friends star been dating Johnny McDaid from Snow Patrol and why is she in the UK?

Courteney Cox has been spotted visiting a local attraction in Northern Ireland.

The Friends’ star was seen at the Bangor Marina in County Down on Wednesday (31 August).

It came before she was pictured attending the Snow Patrol concert at Ward Park in Bangor.

How long has Courteney Cox been dating Johnny McDaid?

Courteney Cox has been in a number of high profile romances since breaking onto the scene in the 1980s.

First she dated Batman star Michael Keaton from 1989 to 1995.

Cox married her Scream co-star David Arquette in 1999.

The couple remained together until 2010, when they announced that they had split.

Cox filed for divorce in 2012 and it was finalised in 2013.

Courteney was spotted on a date with Johnny McDaid in late 2013.

The couple have been together since then - announcing their engagement in June 2014.

However the engagement was later called off, but they remained as a couple.

Who is Johnny McDaid?

He is a singer and songwriter from Northern Ireland, born in Derry in 1976.

McDaid is best known as being a member of the band Snow Patrol.

He began his music career as the singer for the band Vega4.

In 2009 he was signed to Snow Patrol’s publishing company, Polar Patrol Publishing, and in 2011 joined the band - playing keyboards, rhythm guitar and backing vocals.

Outside of Snow Patrol, McDaid has also wrote songers for other artists.

He co-wrote seven of the tracks on Ed Sheeran’s second album X - including the multi-platinum track Photograph.

McDaid also co-wrote Shape of You, which appeared on Sheeran’s third album, as well as co-writting 10 tracks on Sheeran’s latest album = - including co-writting Bad Habits, which was nominated for a Grammy in 2022.

He has also worked with artists like Robbie Williams, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Shawn Mendes, Pink and many more.

Why was Courteney Cox in the UK?

According to reports Cox and McDaid have recently been on holiday in Europe - being spotted in Italy.

The couple were then spotted in Bangor, Northern Ireland - not to be confused with the town of the same name in Wales.

Snow Patrol were playing an acoustic seafront gig at Ward Park.

Our sister title the News Letter reported that the gig was held to celebrate singer Gary Lightbody being awarded the freedom of the borough.

Lightbody is said to be a huge patron of the local music scene in Northern Ireland.

Where was Courteney Cox spotted?

The News Letter reported that the Friends’ start visited Bangor Marina on Wednesday.

She was videoed waving to fans who had recognised her during the visit.

Cox was also pictured with partner Johnny McDaid ahead of Snow Patrol’s concert at Ward Park later that day.

She is said to known for travelling with McDaid as he performs in different countries with the chart topping band.

Bagnor Marina is the largest marina in Northern Ireland.

It opened in 1989 and it is on the southern shores of Belfast Lough.
