Elon Musk’s family just keeps getting bigger. The Tesla founder and SpaceX CEO has become a father to 10 children with three different women over the past twenty years.

Musk rarely discusses his own family life, but has expressed opinions on increasing the birth rate. However, in December 2021, He told Wall Street Journal’s annual CEO Council stating that there are "not enough people" in the world. I think one of the biggest risks to civilization is the low birth rate and the rapidly declining birthrate.

He added: "Please look at the numbers – if people don’t have more children, civilization is going to crumble, mark my words."

Musk first married Canadian author Justine Wilson in 2000, after meeting as students at Queen’s University in Ontario. The couple went on to have six children together. The couple’s first child, Nevada Alexander, was born in 2002 and died of sudden infant death syndrome at the age of 10 weeks.

Following their first child’s death, the couple expanded their family via IVF. They welcomed twins in 2004, followed by triples, Kai, Saxon, and Damian, in 2006. Musk and Wilson divorced in 2008 and share custody of the children.

In 2022, one of their twins officially changed her name to Vivian Jenna Wilson to reflect her gender identity and chose to use their mother’s last name Wilson as they no longer wished to be associated with Musk according to documents obtained by PEOPLE Magazine.

Musk addressed his estranged relationship with his child in an interview with FT.com which was published in October 2022. In the interview he blamed the estrangement of his daughter on what the Financial Times characterised as "the supposed takeover of elite schools and universities by neo-Marxists.”

Musk began dating English actress Talulah Riley in 2008, and married her at Dornoch Cathedral in Scotland in 2010. The couple briefly divorced in 2021 but remarried in 2013, and finalised a second divorce in 2016.

In 2018, two years after finalising his second divorce from English actress Talulah Riley, Musk was linked to singer-songwriter Grimes. The couple welcomed their first child, X Æ A-12,  in 2020.

The couple later changed the name to  X Æ A-Xii. Grimes explained the name’s pronunciation in her Instagram comment section. "It’s just X, like the letter X," she wrote. "Then A.I.," she added. "Like how you said the letter A then I."

It was reported that the couple split up in September 2021, however, in March 2022 Grimes revealed that they had reconciled and welcomed another child via surrogate in December 2021, a baby girl named Exa Dark Sideræl.

She told Vanity Fair: “we’ve always wanted at least three or four" but the day the article was released, she tweeted that they had broken up again.

In court documents obtained by Insider on July 6, it was revealed that Musk had secretly welcomed twins with Shivon Zilis in November 2021. Zilis is the project director at his Nueralink company.

The papers obtained by insider revealed that in April 2022 Musk and Zilis asked a Texan county court to change their babies’ names so they would "have their father’s last name and contain their mother’s last name as part of their middle name."

The twins were born in Austin, Texas just weeks before welcoming Exa Dark Sideræl with Grimes. The twins’ sexes were not made public and their names were redacted from the documents.
