Confession time. I have always loved The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, so when I discovered that Elon Musk once reportedly held a Gatsby-themed party in honour of his birthday, I thought, ‘well that was one party I wish I had attended.’ Elon Musk is celebrating turning 52, but as yet, there hasn’t been any talk of how he will be enjoying his day.

Chances are that part of his 52nd birthday could be spent training for this forthcoming cage match with Mark Zuckerberg. The New York Post reported that “Podcaster, AI research and Brazilian jiujitsu black belt Lex Fridman tweeted photos of Musk holding him in a headlock and flipping him onto his back on Tuesday.” Lex Freedman went on to say that “I did an impromptu training session with @elonmusk for a few hours yesterday. I’m extremely impressed with his strength, power and skill, on the feet and on the ground.”

Now, if part of Elon’s day is spent training, how else could he celebrate and who could be joining him.

Who could be joining Elon Musk on his 52nd birthday?

Although Elon Musk rarely discusses his children, he might want to spend the day with his children (Elon has 10). However, a more likely birthday companion might be Elon’s mother, Maye Musk. Maye Musk recently joined Elon for lunch along with Bernard Arnault and two of his sons, Antoine and Alexandre at the five star hotel Cheval Blanc in Paris (part of the LVMH portfolio).

Maye Musk is a key figure in Elon’s life and recently tweeted in honour of her son’s birthday. Maye said: “Happy birthday @elonmusk We have had an extraordinary 52 years of laughing. Your grandfather had the words, KEEP SMILING, on the back of his business cards. It’s obviously a family tradition.” Alongside the tweet, she shared photographs of Elon, smiling of course.

Maye also shared her birthday wishes for Elon on her Instagram.

The only reference Elon has made so far to his birthday is to tweet: 42 +10 (in case anyone forgot how old he is today). The tweet at the time of writing has so far had 30.9 M views.

How has Elon Musk previously celebrated his birthdays?

As well as reportedly holding a ‘Gatsby’ birthday party, Elon Musk is said to have hired a castle in the UK for this 30th. It would seem however that Elon is less a fan of birthday celebrations, but rather celebrations in general.

For Halloween last year, Elon reportedly threw a party at Bran Castle in Romania. Guests who were rumoured to have attended included Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie, PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel, and Google’s co-founders Sergei Brin and Larry Page.

What possible gifts could you get the world’s richest person?

Now, if you thought it was hard debating whether to get your dad a pair of socks or a book, think about trying to find a suitable gift for not only a billionaire, but the world’s richest person - who reclaimed his title at the start of this month.

There is no point in trying to impress Elon with shop bought gifts. I would suggest if you are one of Elon’s nearest and dearest to enrol yourself in a home made sushi course as one of Elon’s most enjoyed foods is reportedly Tuna Sashimi.

One of Elon Musk’s favourite books is ‘The Lord of the Rings’ by J.R.R Tolkien. In 2015, a rare edition of ‘The Hobbit’ by the same author reportedly sold at Sotheby’s for £137,000 so I can only imagine what a rare edition of ‘The Lord of the Rings’ would cost in 2023.

However, if Elon’s inner circle are keen to purchase a book of a similar quality, it goes without saying that their gift budget for the billionaire has to be substantial, to say the least!
