The battle of the billionaires may still not have an official date, but Twitter/X owner Elon Musk and Meta owner Mark Zuckerberg are still talking the talk despite not knowing when they’ll walk the walk. Thankfully, whenever that fight takes place, know that there is already a broadcast channel involved in showing us the tussle between the modern titans of technology.

Musk has taken to his social media platform to reveal that the fight, once confirmed, will be streaming through “X” to demonstrate the streaming capabilities of his platform; many might remember Periscope, a short-lived “live streaming video” app that utilised Twitter/X’s platform to share live streams that were prominent during the “Occupy Wall Street” movement.

That has drawn parallels to the HBO comedy series “Silicon Valley,” where fans of the show might point to a storyline where Hooli (the in-show version of Google) attempted to stream a UFC event but was the victim of poor internet connections and buffering issues, leaving Gavin Henson (the show’s “tech guru” and at times antagonist) sitting in embarrassment the stream did not work

While Musk is hyping up the possible streaming option to watch the fight, Zuckerberg instead has been trashing talking to Tesla/SpaceX businessman, going as far as to suggest that he’s been ready since Musk proposed the fight on August 26 2023. Zuckerberg, a long-time practitioner of Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu, said the only delay is awaiting Musk to be in prime physical condition for the battle of the billionaires.

The fight was at one point rumoured to be taking place at the Colosseum in Rome, Italy and the rumours went as far as to suggest talks between UFC and the Italian Foreign Ministry, but an insider for TMZ has now confirmed that the venue is question is off the table.

No official date has been set for the titanic tussle between the two tech gurus; we do know that Dana White, the president of UFC, is involved in the fight and that a venue is being looked over after the Colosseum is a no-go.

Given Zuckerberg’s shade thrown towards Elon Musk though, and Musk’s tendency to go all in if he feels slighted by someone, then perhaps it might be the fight of 2024 - plenty of time for Musk to fine-tune both his fighting style and the video streaming service.
