It would appear that despite the couple receiving lower approval ratings in the United States compared to Prince Andrew, that the media round is about to start up once again for Harry and after that South Park episode.
The stream, produced by Penguin Random House and taking place March 4 2023, will see Harry sit down and discuss some of the topics from his memoir with Dr. Gabor Maté, author of The Myth of Normal: Trauma, Illness, and Healing in a Toxic Culture. So those wondering what the nature of the conversation will regard can quite probably guild what’s going to be said from the press release regarding the event alone.

Those that do manage to pick up a ticket however and are entitled to ask a question to Harry and Dr. Maté will also be entitled to a copy of the very book that brought us where we are today - Spare, which continues to dominate best seller lists since its release in January 2023. Tickets for the live stream are available through the book’s very own official website and ticketing finishes at 1pm on March 1 2023.
The intimate conversation will no doubt be another cause celebre for Harry and Meghan, following their damning parody on South Park in which the pair were accused by creators of not actually wanting privacy, despite their remarks how they want to be treated as a normal couple. That stirred conversations last week about possible litigation against the South Park creators, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, which representatives of the pair refuted shortly afterwards.
Could Dr. Gabor Maté bring increased scrutiny to the embattled Harry and Meghan?
Though the live-stream event will look to focus on the healing process after dealing with trauma, the inclusion of Dr. Gabor Maté could set up Harry and Meghan for a renewed round of controversy - this time regarding their choice of conversationalist. There has been no disputing Maté’s experience in dealing with trauma - as a baby, he was separated from his mother during World War II to save his life as his father was forced into a labour camp.

Instead, it would be Maté’s methods of treatment that will be under public scrutiny. Maté has been associated with the decriminalisation of drugs, including ayahuasca - a drug that Harry had written about using in his memoir. The psychedelic drug is claimed to have several healing properties, but the hallucinogenic aspect has led it to be criminalized. US, UK, and Canada have all made the use of the drug illegal, leading Canadian officials in 2011 to threaten Dr. Maté with his arrest if he didn’t stop using the drug to treat his patients.
The trauma expert has also made outspoken comments as a talking head for several podcasts, including Russell Brand’s podcast series, which illustrated Maté’s views on the Israel-Palestine conflict. Speaking on Brand’s podcast, he informed listeners that “there’s no way you could have ever created a Jewish state without oppressing and expelling the local population.”
