How could Harry and Meghan spend Easter away from the Royal family and will they embrace more US customs?

Easter this year for the extended Windsor family couldn’t be any different if they tried; while Harry and Meghan are set to remain in their Montecito residence once again this year with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, his family members will be taking up Royal duties once again, including attending the Easter Sunday service at St George's Chapel.

While 2023 marks the first time that the Royal family will be celebrating Easter after the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex might revisit a new Easter tradition with the children, one steeped in US tradition - the age-old Egg Hunt. Viewers of the Netflix documentary series 'Harry and Meghan' will no doubt be familiar with the images of a smaller Prince Archie roaming around the Montecito property in search of those elusive Easter eggs.

Such is the US Easter tradition of the Easter egg hunt that it has become a fixture on the White House calendar, with many presidents during their time in office throwing open the gates to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, inviting children from all around the country to join in with the sitting POTUS and hunt around the grounds of the White House hunting for eggs.

Certainly a world apart, should Harry and Meghan continue this tradition with their family, than the dogmatic approach that the Royal family take each Easter - a solemn affair of quiet reflection and contemplation with no Easter Bunny in sight. Could a change up for the Sussexs this year though see an Easter egg hunt spent with Princess Lilibet’s godparent, Tyler Perry instead?

Perhaps while they’re at Tyler Perry’s residence they might pick up on some other US Easter traditions? There is the annual Easter Day Parade down Fifth Avenue that will be screened on network television, while the traditional foods usually served during springtime in the United States comprises of Easter ham or lamb, Easter biscuits (sweet Easter cookies from the old English tradition that contains a special seasoning), more eggs - this time boiled - and of course Hot Cross Buns, the international staple around this time of year.

Maybe someone else attending any gathering Harry and Meghan attend could be from the New England area; which would mean the offering of a piece of Simnel Cake, a New England favourite which combines the traditional British fruit cake with lots of marzipan added. Sort of British sensibility meets US sugar-sweet sensibilities - a fitting cake for Meghan and Harry then?
