Although Prince George turns ten next month, it looks like a new school might be on the horizon for him. Hello! magazine have reported that “The young royal was seen wearing navy shorts, a short-sleeved shirt and black shoes as he stood next to his father, who was sporting a blue jacket and a pair of navy trousers.”

Boys can only attend Eton College from the age of 13, but the Prince and Princess of Wales are obviously planning ahead when it comes to deciding on the right school for their eldest son, Prince George. Although entry might not be until Year 9, according to Eton College’s website, “A boy may be registered up until 30 June of the school year he turns 10 (UK school Year 5).”

When it comes to the school fees of Eton College, the website states that for the 2022/23 academic year, the fees are priced at £15,432 per half ( “ie.term: there are three terms in a year.”).

If Prince George does go to Eton College, not only will he be following in the footsteps of his father, Prince William, but also his uncle, Prince Harry. Queen Camilla’s son Tom Parker Bowles also went to Eton, as of course so did the former Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

PeopleWorld takes a look at where a few other members of the royal family went to school.

King Charles

King Charles 111 followed in his father’s footsteps and attended Gordonstoun, situated in Elgin in the northeast of Scotland. The Scotsman wrote in April of this year that “Though once described as ‘temperamentally unsuited’ for the way of life at Gordonstoun, King Charles now pays tribute to tribute to the school's teachings.”

According to Gordonstoun’s website, fees for 2023/24, per term for Years 9-12, entry before Year 9 are £15,300 for boarders and £10,850 for day pupils.

Catherine, Princess of Wales

Catherine, Princess of Wales attended Marlborough College, a co-educational independent boarding school in Wiltshire before meeting Prince William at the University of St Andrews. Fees for Marlborough College for the 2022/23 academic year are £42,930 per annum (which works out at £14,210 per term).

Zara Tindall

Zara Tindall followed in her uncle King Charles’s footsteps and also went to Gordonstoun, which she is said to have loved. Zara Tindall’s brother Peter Phillips also attended Gordonstoun. In 2016, it was reported that Zara’s husband Mike Tindall was not keen that their oldest daughter follow in her mother’s footsteps by attending a boarding school.
