Comedian Joe Lycett has treated the world to a book on bins and ensured our shortest-serving PM gets a mention

There's a new book with a niche subject matter, one that deliberates over all kinds of rubbish. The cover may look fancy and the price tag of £95 ensures it is not cheap, however it is littered with a subject matter that many may find unsanitary.

Who could compile a book which leaves such a perplexing array of emotion all from one book title? Why it's Joe Lycett, the comedian, who continues his literary career - he has one book out already - with a second titled 'Bins'.

When you open up a new book and find out it is dedicated to you it should leave you feeling special. A wonderful and unique thing to be thankful for, except the book is about refuse collection vessels and the person who has written the book on said bins is a comedian named Joe Lycett and oh, your name is Liz Truss.

Liz Truss, our shortest-serving prime minister with her record-breaking 44 day stint in office last autumn.

Throughout her many catastrophic moments in power, which included spooking the markets and crashing the pound with her disastrous 'mini-Budget', sending the Tory Party plummeting in the polls and losing her chancellor and home secretary within the space of six days, Joe ensured he encouraged Liz with his tweets.

His tongue-in-cheek support of Liz was carried over onto a BBC show with Laura Kuenssberg.

The comedian said he was "very right wing" while appearing as a panel guest on the new BBC Sunday morning show in September 2022, which caused many laughs from his fans.

The 34-year-old was questioned by Ms Kuenssberg about interview answers that Liz Truss gave earlier on the programme.

"I’m actually very right wing, I loved it," said Joe.

"She gave very clear answers. The haters will say we’ve had 12 years of the Tories and... Liz Truss is the backwash of the available MPs. I wouldn’t say that because I’m incredibly right wing, but some people might say that."

His appearance made the front page of the Daily Mail newspaper, and attracted widespread praise and criticism.

Joe is making it his life's mission to troll the biggest names in British public life.

His ultimatum to sporting legend David Beckham in November 2022, a man who - until then - could do no wrong, involved a stunt shredding 'thousands of pounds' - which later turned out to be fake money.

Joe had given David an ultimatum in an Instagram video. Lycett sat at a desk with £10,000 in cash in front of him and said: "You're the first premiership footballer to do shoots with gay magazines like Attitude, to speak openly about your gay fans, and you married a Spice Girl, which is the gayest thing a human being can do.

"But now it's 2022. And you signed a reported £10m deal with Qatar to be their ambassador during the FIFA World Cup.

"Qatar was voted as one of the worst places in the world to be gay."

Lycett then goes on to give Beckham a choice: "If you end your relationship with Qatar, I'll donate this £10,000 of my own money, as a grand for every million you're reportedly getting, to charities that support queer people in football.

"However, if you do not, by midday next Sunday (20 November) I will throw this money into a shredder just before the opening ceremony of the World Cup and stream it live on a website I've registered called benderslikebeckham.com."

Beckham did not respond and Joe Lycett shredded the 'money', which he later admitted was fake. He donated the real £10,000 to charity.
