Although I have written articles on whether Kate Middleton might wear Alexander McQueen,Catherine Walker and even Jenny Packham to the coronation, the first article I wrote was about Alexander McQueen as without question, this is the designer label that means the most to Kate.

Kate Middleton has a long standing relationship with Sarah Burton, the Creative Director of Alexander McQueen. For her 40th birthday portraits, she turned to Sarah who created the three Alexander McQueen gowns she wore for the photographs taken by iconic Italian photographer, Paolo Roversi.

Sarah Burton was of course responsible for creating Kate’s iconic Alexander McQueen wedding dress in 2011 that still inspires brides today. Kate’s coronation dress, which is ivory in colour, features rose, thistle, daffodil and shamrock motifs to represent each of the four nations.

Kate also paid a touching tribute to her late mother in law, Princess Diana, by wearing her pearl and diamond earrings for the coronation. The late Queen Elizabeth 11 was also remembered as she wore The George V1 Festoon Necklace. This specific necklace had been given to the Queen by her father King George V1 when she was Princess Elizabeth.

In the lead up to the coronation, Kate Middleton has worn patriotic red, white and blue dresses. On the eve of the coronation, she wore a blue Self-Portrait dress and during the day, she wore a fitted white Jenny Packham dress with black detailing.

When she visited the Duck and Dog pub in London’s Soho with Prince William, she recycled a red Eponine coat and underneath, wore a white dress by Suzannah.
