Without question, tiaras and crowns are normally associated with brides and the royal family. As the coronation in May fast approaches, it has already been revealed that Camilla, Queen Consort, will wear Queen Mary’s crown without the controversial Koh-i-Noor diamond for the occasion.

According to Sky News, the decision behind not wearing the diamond in Queen Mary’s crown was because “over concerns it would serve as an unwelcome reminder of the British Empire. The crown has been removed from display at the Tower of London for modification work ahead of the ceremony in May.”

Now, when it comes to which tiara Kate Middleton will wear, it will be interesting to see if she opts for one of her three favourite headpieces. According to Town & Country, “The first time she ever wore one was at her 2011 nuptials to Prince William when she opted for the Cartier Halo Tiara.” The second tiara is “The Lotus Flower Tiara (sometimes referred to as the Papyrus Tiara), which she has gone on to wear many times.” The third tiara is Queen Mary’s Lover’s Knot Tiara which Kate wore at the first state banquet, hosted by King Charles.

As every day passes, speculation grows over whether Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to attend the coronation. It has been muted that Meghan Markle might be tempted by the thought of having a ‘tiara moment’ if she was to decide to attend the momentous occasion.

Now, as to which ‘tiara’ she will wear, that is the all important question. For her wedding to Prince Harry, she wore Queen Mary’s Diamond Bandeau, which according to brides.com is “the jewelled headpiece, which is estimated to cost $2.4 million [and] one of Queen Elizabeth’s most expensive crowns in her collection. [It] has a long-standing history.”

It is unlikely that Meghan Markle will wear her ‘wedding tiara’ if she does attend the coronation, and perhaps King Charles (as an olive branch) might suggest a tiara from his mother, Queen Elizabeth II’s collection?

As for the other royal members who might wear tiaras/coronets, it has been suggested that Prince William and Kate Middleton’s daughter, Princess Charlotte might wear her first tiara in public on such an historic occasion.
