Without question, teachers can have a monumental positive impact on the lives of many, including celebrities and royals. When Kate Middleton spotted her old history teacher, Jim Embury in the crowd when she and Prince William were visiting the National Maritime Museum Cornwall in Falmouth’s Discovery Quay, she couldn’t contain her delight at seeing him.

Kate Middleton immediately went to give him a hug as the pair were reunited for the first time since she left primary school.

When Kate saw her old teacher for the first time since primary school, she said: “Oh my goodness! My gosh, that’s taken me right back!” According to Cornwall Live, she then said: “The things you taught me, I now teach to my children.”

As to what Jim Embury thought of his former Royal pupil, he said: “She was a fantastic student and it was a great class.”

Kate attended St Andrew’s prep school in Pangbourne, Berkshire. Kate returned there in 2021 to celebrate St Andrew’s Day with pupils and staff and to open a new hockey pitch.

Kate Middleton is not the only royal to have enjoyed a good relationship with a former teacher.

In the Netflix series, Meghan & Harry, Meghan Markle and her mother Doria Ragland went to visit Hollywood Schoolhouse where they met Miss Debbie, Meghan’s former teacher.

During the documentary, Miss Debbie took out an old book that Meghan had signed before she left the school.

Meghan read the message which said: “Dear Miss Debbie, you have helped me so much.” She then continued reading the note which said: “This school will always have a special place in my heart. Much love, Meghan.”

The most important part of the note however was the PS of the note. The PS read: “PS when I am rich and famous and I write my life story, I will talk about you and the school so you be known worldwide.”

When Prince Harry visited New Zealand in 2015, he was reunited with Vicki McBratney who worked as a matron at Ludgrove School in Berkshire when the Prince attended.

Vicki waited in the crowd in Christchurch to see him and showed him some old photographs of them together during his school days. “(He was) a loveable, friendly nice boy,” she said. “He’s still got that same smile.”.
