Only in October last year, Carole Middleton’s party company Party Pieces was being launched in the States and she even used a cardboard cutout of herself to promote it. However, even then, I have to be honest with you that I knew that the business would not be sustainable long-term as although it was ahead of its time years ago, it unfortunately could no longer compete with the many similar businesses and of course without question, the likes of Amazon.

Carole Middleton started the business in 1987 after discovering that there was a gap in the market for busy parents who were looking for products for children’s birthday parties. It has been reported that all three of her children, including the Princess of Wales, have worked at some point for the company.

According to Sky News, the company “Party Pieces Holdings, which was launched by Carole and Michael Middleton in 1987, was bought on Thursday by James Sinclair, an entrepreneur.” Sky News goes on to say that “It was unclear what price Mr Sinclair’s company, Teddy Tastic Bear Co Ltd, had paid or how big the liabilities were that had been left behind.

If you head over to his personal website James Sinclair, it reveals that James started his business after leaving school. He describes himself as a “solopreneur. A children’s entertainer turning over £120K a year. James goes on to say “But that wasn’t enough. I added staff. I got better at marketing. I invested in growth. I invested in myself.”

On his Instagram, he describes himself as an entrepreneur and it is listed that he is the CEO of Rossi Ice Cream, Marsh Farm, Partyman World, Twizzletops, Lee Valley and Teddy Tastic.

He has also posted on his account, the question is put to him about what his ultimate goal is. He replies by saying that “If I just wanted to make money, I would just sell up and do commercial property.” However, he said he wouldn’t feel fulfilled.
