Daddy’s Girl: Kate Middleton’s close relationship with father Michael is reflected in her Shaping Us Campaign

Kate Middleton has shared a photograph of herself as a baby with her hands touching her father’s face on her and Prince William’s Instagram. Although many may say it is a typical photograph of a baby with her father, I think it demonstrates more.

It shows the essence of Kate Middleton’s ‘Shaping Us' campaign, which is dedicated to highlighting the importance of early childhood and the impact it has on one’s life.

On Kate Middleton’s instagram post where she shared a photograph of herself with her father as a baby, she wrote: “Faces are a baby’s best toy.” She then went on to encourage others to share photographs of themselves before their fifth birthday “to help with those conversations and to share some smiles and memories too.”

Kate Middleton is very close to her parents Carole and Michael and sister Pippa and brother James and her happy childhood clearly has a big impact on her decision to focus on the importance of understanding early years is the key to raising happy and healthy adults.

Over the years, Kate’s father Michael has been on hand to support his daughter through the important moments of her life.

From transitioning and adjusting to royal life to being ‘hands on grandparents with his wife Carole, Michael has always been there to guide his oldest daughter.

Michael exemplified the ‘proud father of the bride’ when he walked Kate down the aisle to marry Prince William on 29 April 2011.

For his speech at the couple’s reception, he reportedly received a standing ovation as he spoke about her childhood, how Kate and William met, what a lovely couple they are and how William had fitted in so well within their family.

When Kate gave birth to her first child, Prince George, it was of significance that Carole and Michael were the first visitors to meet their grandson.

Michael Middleton along with his wife Carole often joins his daughter Kate at Wimbledon and the pair are often pictured laughing and generally enjoying each other’s company.

When they arrived at Wimbledon last year, Kate made sure she blew them a kiss as they arrived.
