It is always nerve-wracking to meet your in-laws and even more so if they are in line to the British throne, however Kate Middleton reportedly took it all in her stride when she first met King Charles over a decade ago.

Since then, the now Princess of Wales has formed a close relationship with the monarch who is due to be crowned as King Charles III in May this year.

As the new heir apparent, the Prince and Princess of Wales will have a key role to play in the historic event - the first coronation to take place in 70 years since Charles’ late mother Queen Elizabeth II became monarch in 1953.

Despite the changing of the tides, King Charles will feel in safe hands after a royal expert previously told OK! Magazine that Prince William’s University sweetheart is the key to ‘stability and continuity’ for the Royal Family in 2023.

They said: "Kate Middleton has a close relationship with her father-in-law. There is a huge amount of warmth between them and mutual respect, and I know Charles feels very lucky to have Kate as part of the family. He absolutely recognises and appreciates what she brings. She is a huge asset and no one sees that more than the King."

Although the Royal Family tend to keep their composure when on public visits or seen at events, PeopleWorld have highlighted small gestures to show the pair’s close relationship.

Earlier this week, Kate Middleton looked beautiful at Westminster Abbey for the annual Commonwealth Day Celebration wearing a stunning navy Erdem fitted jacket and skirt.

If Royal fans looked closely at Kate’s outfit, they would be able to see her adorning the Prince of Wales feathers on her lapel and some earrings that once belonged to Princess Diana, highlighting her close connections to her in-laws.

Queen’s Thanksgiving Service

To celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee last year, recognising the longest reigning monarch in British history, the Firm all attended a service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral.

When King Charles arrived, he could be seen greeting his daughter-in-law by blowing her a kiss, a sign of personal fondness, before the Queen Consort Camilla repeated the intimate action.

Charles, King Charles, attended the James Bond premiere for No Time To Die in September 2021 and was seen embracing Kate Middleton and kissing her as a welcome.

It doesn’t take an MI6 spy to figure out that they are excited to see each other at public events, evident from their warm, open and relaxed body language.

Kate Middleton often supported the late Queen Elizabeth by taking on patronages and attending engagements and continued these acts of support with her father-in-law, both before his rise to the throne and before his upcoming coronation in May 2023.

In 2020, Kate and William attended the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre (DMRC) Stanford Hall in Loughborough with Charles and Camilla, where the eldest son of the new monarch took part in wheelchair basketball.

Prior to his involvement in the sport, the four Royals could be seen sharing a joke together and laughing - a rare slip of their professional façade.
