Although the main discussion when it comes to the coronation so far appears to be over whether Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are likely to attend or not, there has also been a lot of speculation over what the roles of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, will be.

According to The Daily Mirror, “While Charlotte and Louis would attend the ceremony as spectators, Prince William and Kate Middleton were said to be ‘considering’ the possibility of handing their eldest son a major responsibility at the royal event.”

However, royal commentator Tom Quinn told The Express: “I’ve heard from my contacts that there is a bit of an argument going on about whether George should play a more formal role. I’ve heard that Kate and William are worried that it will be too much for him.”

Despite their tender ages, Prince George is 9, and his sister Princess Charlotte is 7, both children attended the funeral of their late great grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II and were the youngest mourners on the day. Kate Middleton and Prince William’s youngest son, Prince Louis did not attend.

Historically, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis would not be the youngest children to attend a coronation ceremony. King Charles was the first child to witness his mother’s coronation as his sister Princess Anne was considered too young at the time, but Charles was only four at the time.

When he attended the late Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation, King Charles (the then Prince Charles), sat beside his grandmother, the Queen Mother, and the Queen’s sister and Charles’s aunt, Princess Margaret.

As to what Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis might wear to the coronation, no details have been shared. However, it has been muted that Princess Charlotte might get the opportunity to wear a tiara or a coronet alongside her mother, Kate Middleton

Although Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have not yet confirmed their attendance at the coronation, it is thought that they will attend without their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet as they are too considered ‘too young.’
