King Charles and Queen Camilla have reportedly been spotted heading to church on Sunday (16 April) at Crathie Kirk in Scotland, not far from Balmoral Castle. It appears the Royal couple are taking a well deserved break ahead of the busy schedule that is planned for the coronation day on 6 of May.

His Royal Highness seems to be taking inspiration from his mother as in 1953 Queen Elizabeth holidayed at Balmoral Castle with the family - and beloved corgis - a week prior to her coronation.

According to Caroline Perry, author of ‘The Corgi and the Queen’, her majesty enjoyed a week of ‘complete rest’ in the days leading up to the occasion.

Speaking to People Caroline explained "The Queen's coronation was the first one to be televised, which added a considerable amount of pressure. Elizabeth knew that the world's eyes were going to be on her, and she had to be absolutely pitch-perfect.

“When she got back to London for those final weeks of coronation prep, it was going to be a whirlwind: two full ceremony rehearsals, high-level meetings and final dress fittings.”

It’s no wonder King Charles would want to have some calm time at Balmoral with his wife Camilla before the big day. Although the Queen’s coronation was a much bigger event in comparison to King Charles’ slimmed-down version.

Queen Elizabeth was 25 and both Charles and Camilla are in their 70’s. The royals deserve a break as they will be extremely busy in the lead up to the day.

Preparations for the King's coronation are already taking place in London. The Express reported that ‘hundreds of military personnel’ rehearsed the procession parade through the streets of London in the early hours of Tuesday (18 April) morning.

It will be a long day for the couple with the ceremony at Westminster starting in the morning then the possession and concert with celebrations going on late into the evening. An estimated 2000 people will attend the ceremony along with tens of thousands of people from all over the world that will line the streets of London.
