Hell hath no fury like the fandom of an artist scorned; at least that is the position Kylie Jenner has found herself in this week as Selena Gomez fans have rushed to accuse the media personality of “throwing shade” regarding, of all things, the singer’s eyebrows.

Followers of their pair on Instagram were quick to jump to allegations of beef after Gomez shared an image of herself on February 21 showing her brushed eyebrows and a full face of makeup. Shortly afterwards, by coincidence it would seem, Kylie Jenner took to social media the same day and shared on Instagram Stories a reel of herself focusing on grooming her eyebrows.

This was followed up with another Instagram Story, this time featuring a Facetime conversation between Jenner and Hailey Bieber, zooming in and once again making mention of eyebrows. Selena Gomez fans and detractors of Kylie Jenner believed this was Jenner making fun of Gomez and in particular the bushy items above her eyes.

But the pair have been quick to squash any beef that may have unintentionally arisen during the rally of Instagram posts, including Jenner pointing out that many accusers are “making something out of nothing.” “This is reaching,” Jenner commented underneath a post on TikTok in regards to the “beef.” “No shade towards Selena ever and I didn’t see her eyebrow posts!”

Gomez seems to have taken the comments in her stride also, adding in the same comments section on the TikTok post “Agreed @kyliejenner. It’s all unnecessary. I’m a fan of Kylie!”

Perhaps the shade is a little less about eyebrows and more about Selena Gomez’s standing on social media; overnight, Selena Gomez overtook Kylie Jenner as the most followed woman on Instagram. Gomez at the end of Wednesday evening sat on Instagram with 380,644,77 followers, compared to Kyle Jenner’s 380,425,729 followers.

Either way, the pair have seemed to squash this aspect of their alleged beef; but as the pair now vie for the most followed woman on Instagram, perhaps more shade may be “unintentionally” expected between the pair.
