Has Leonardo DiCaprio met his ‘match’ with Maya Jama as the couple are reportedly ‘dating?’

Although Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio has reportedly denied reports that he has been romantically linked again with ‘Love Island’ host Maya Jama, the pair are said to be ‘secretly dating.’

According to The Sun, “Leo, 48, sent Maya, 28, roses as a romantic gesture after being introduced by mutual friends. They partied together on two consecutive nights in London over the Bafta weekend. The pair then bonded on evenings out in New York when both were there for work.”

Leonardo DiCaprio was most recently linked to model Gigi Hadid, and the couple were first spotted together at New York Fashion Week in September 2022. Although their romance was said to have ‘fizzled out,’ they were seen together at a pre-Oscars party in March. 

One of Maya Jama’s most high profile relationships to date has been with Stormzy, the couple were together for four years before splitting in 2019. The pair were said to have ‘rekindled their romance’ in January 2023 after they were spotted in attendance at several of the same events. 

Maya was also romantically involved with Ben Simmons and the couple were even engaged. Ben reportedly asked Maya to marry him over Christmas in 2021. More recently, Maya was said to have been sent a legal letter demanding the return of her £800K engagement ring.

Although Leonardo DiCaprio is currently denying that he is ‘dating’ Maya Jama, according to the Daily Mail, “Leo has reportedly been desperate to ‘ditch’ his image of only dating women under the age of 25 while setting down in a ‘more mature’ relationship.”

Maya is of course 28, and whilst not an international superstar (as yet), she is most certainly more than a ‘match'; for Leonardo. Not only did she win plaudits for her recent role as the host of Winter Love Island, but she has also been hailed as the ‘most beautiful woman on the planet.’

As if that wasn’t enough, Maya has also become the new global ambassador for Rimmel London and follows in the footsteps of supermodel Kate Moss. “I grew up with this brand and have dreamed about saying the iconic ‘London look’ line on tv one day and now it’s happening,” she said. “I don’t even have the words, following in the footsteps of Kate Moss, Adwoa and more doesn’t even make sense in my mind but I am honoured.”

Bristol-born Maya’s incredible work ethic and success might be one of the reasons why Leonardo is ‘attracted’ to her. She also did not have the easiest of childhoods and told The Guardian about this in 2017. “For most of Maya’s childhood, her dad was, as she puts it, ‘banged up.’ It wasn’t one long sentence, it was a lot of sentences-sentence after sentence.”

She later on in the interview said that her ‘independence’ comes from her father. “Because if someone leaves you in your family at a young age, you think, I don’t need him anyway. It gives you a kind of inner strength; it makes you realise that no one will be there for ever. You only really have yourself to rely on.”

Maya is undoubtedly a strong independent woman who has not only achieved enormous success when it comes to her career, but is set to achieve even bigger and better things in the near future. If the rumours of a romance between Leonardo and Maya are true, Leonardo is without question, one very lucky man to have won the heart of Maya Jama.
