The will they/won’t they continues in the tech world after the weekend, with speculation still mounting if the proposed fight between TwitterX’s Elon Musk and Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg will actually go ahead. One of the competitors seems more keen than the other, however, after an admission how he really feels about his opponent’s approach to the rumoured bout.

Sky News UK reports that Zuckerberg feels it’s time for people to “move on” from the prospect of a future cage fight between the tech billionaires, claiming he feels that Elon Musk isn’t really taking the prospect of an MMA battle seriously. Taking to Threads (shade thrown already), Zuckerberg posted “I think we can all agree Elon isn't serious and it's time to move on.

"I offered a real date. [Ultimate Fighting Championship president] Dana White offered to make this a legit competition for charity. Elon won't confirm a date, then says he needs surgery, and now asks to do a practice round in my backyard instead." The latter part of that post pertains to Elon Musk allegedly requesting a “practice fight” ahead of any real contest between the two.

Musk however has also been vocal about the bout, referring to Zuckerberg as a chicken, in a roundabout way, stating that the Meta chief cannot eat at Chick-fil-A anymore as it would be considered “cannibalism” and then leaking some private text messages exchanged between the billionaires.

The text messages reveal Zuckerberg’s response to Musk’s proposal of a “practice round” by telling the Tesla/SpaceX owner “If you still want to do a real MMA [mixed martial arts] fight, then you should train on your own and let me know when you're ready to compete. I don't want to keep hyping something that will never happen, so you should either decide you're going to do this and do it soon, or we should move on."

While this might all seem like online fun and trolling, apparently Zuckerberg takes his love of mixed martial arts and Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu seriously, going on to also post on Threads before the latest developments “I love this sport and I've been ready to fight since the day Elon challenged me. If he ever agrees on an actual date, you'll hear it from me. Until then, please assume anything he says has not been agreed on.”
