Avid users of Instagram could do well to take advice from money guru Martin Lewis, as he's advised customers on how to beat a price hike in April.

WiFi and mobile phone usage could be restricted for people if they're trying to avoid rising costs from next month, which is due to increase by 14-17%. Martin has given advice on how to beat the price rises by simply sending two texts, and, if you're out of contract, you'll be able to save money.

This is especially good news for Instagram influencers and anyone using their social media accounts when on the move. Many people enjoy taking images from their holidays or even just a local cafe trip, so this money hack from Martin will come in handy to ensure people can upload and download as and when they need without burning through their data for the month.

During a programme filmed in Liverpool by Martin, he went through what people need to do to ensure they avoid paying over the odds for their mobile phone deals.

"First text INFO on 85075 on your current phone, it’s free to do, to find out if you’re out of contract and free to leave," he said, on the Martin Lewis Money Show on Wednesday 22 March.

He also advised switching to a lower priced network that uses the same signal as the more expensive ones. There are four main big providers in the UK and the smaller ones feed into these four main networks - meaning you could save money and still have a good quality of signal coverage across the UK.

Martin suggested cheap SIM-only deals via price comparison websites, as opposed to directly going to providers, as you'll often get cheaper deals.

The drawback is that 5G or wifi calling may not be offered on lower-priced networks, although if you get a signal on the parent network then you'll get a signal in your own home on the cheaper network that is using its signal.

To move your mobile phone number to another mobile network, Martin has told mobile phone users to text "PAC" to 65075 to get their PAC code. He says to get the best deal you should ask to cancel your contract or say you're leaving and you'll be transferred to the retentions team.

"If they say to you ‘I’m sorry we will disconnect you, you say ‘I just need to check that with my husband, wife or parrot," said Martin, which he explained would buy the customer more time to decide whether to cancel and give time to check out other deals.
