Why Meghan Markle’s former ‘best friend’ Jessica Mulroney jetted to London amid coronation rumours

Mmm, call me cynical (I assure you plenty have), but there was obviously a reason why Jessica Mulroney took to Instagram to tell her 408K followers that she was on a plane from Toronto to London. She captioned the Instagram story which depicted the screen in front of her showing a ‘London guide.’ with the words ‘Bye Toronto!’ 

Jessica has since added another Instagram story to her account which now shows a ‘sunny’ (a rarity) London with the bunting all ready for the King’s coronation. She is in London with her husband Ben Mulroney, who is the son of former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney and Mila Mulroney.

It looks like she has jetted to London just with her husband Ben as her sons, Brian and John, and daughter Ivy, were not pictured with her. The Canadian stylist’s twin sons were page boys at Meghan Markle’s wedding to Prince Harry in 2018, and her daughter Ivy was her bridesmaid. 

Before her ‘fallout’ with Meghan, the pair were said to have been incredibly close and met when Meghan moved to Toronto film Suits. They took holidays together and Jessica reportedly welcomed both her and Prince Harry into her home when Meghan made her first royal appearance at the Invictus Games in Toronto in 2017.

Jessica was not only by her friend Meghan’s side when she married Prince Harry, but was also present at her baby shower in New York. Other guests included Amal Clooney and Serena Williams.

However, fast forward a couple of years and Jessica and Meghan’s friendship seemed to not only falter, but came crashing down. According to Hello! Magazine, “Meghan and Jessica had a reported falling out in 2020 when influencer Sasha Exeter called out Jessica for displaying ‘textbook white privilege’ within the fashion blogging community. And when Jessica apologised, citing Meghan as one of her ‘closest friends,’ the Duchess reportedly put an end to their friendship.”

After this happened, Jessica Mulroney took a step back from social media and was reportedly dropped from television appearances. In December of last year, she did however post a cryptic message on her Instagram stories which said: “Best thing I ever did was learn how to move without the crowd.”

Although Jessica has not indicated she is jetted into London specifically for the coronation, the fact that it is fast approaching might be a sign she is planning to celebrate it with British friends. Watch this space and her Instagram to see what she is up to next…
