If you have been avidly watching the Netflix docuseries Meghan & Harry, you may have noticed that Meghan Markle’s former ‘close’ friend Jessica Mulroney appeared to have featured in the second episode.

In the second episode, footage was shown when Meghan and Harry got engaged in 2017. Before Prince Harry proposed to Meghan in the Walled Garden of Kensington Palace, it seems that Meghan had a video call with Jessica. Just as she is approaching the setting, Meghan said: “Oh my God Jess, it’s happening. He told me not to peek.”

‘Jess’ is reportedly Canadian based stylist Jessica Mulroney who used to be very close to Meghan before their apparent falling out following Jessica’s comments about ‘white privilege.’ At the time Jessica was a well-known fashion influencer, contributor on Good Morning America and is the daughter-in-law of former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney.

Meghan and Jessica first became incredibly close when Meghan moved to Canada to film Suits. They were so ‘close’ that Jessica and her husband’s twin sons were page boys when Meghan and Harry married. Jessica was also included in Meghan’s close group of friends who attended her baby shower in New York City.

According to The Cut, Sasha Exeter, a Toronto-based influencer and blogger “shared a 12-minute video post on Instagram. In it, she explained that one week earlier, Mulroney (a former ‘acquaintance’ of hers) had privately responded to a call-to-action Exeter had posted on Her Instagram Stories about Black Lives Matter, in which she urged people with large followings to post about it too.”

Although Sasha Exeter didn’t name anyone in the post, it is reported that Mulroney was offended at the call-to-action as she believed it was aimed at her. The Cut then reported that over a week, “Exeter says she was sent ‘a trail of offensive messages,’ from Mulroney, in which Mulroney tried to explain why she hadn’t posted about BLM, including that she was busy doing promo for her show.”

Following the controversy, Mulroney was dropped from her television appearances and took a step back from social media. Although she apologised, she reportedly made reference to Meghan by writing that “I have lived a personal experience with my closest friend where race was front and centre.” Meghan is believed to have not been happy with being referred to in the apology and is said to have decided not to continue with their friendship.

However, in recent days Jessica has taken to her social media once again. She shared a a cryptic message on her Instagram stories. The message said: “Best thing I ever did was learn how to move without the crowd.”

Whether this is in reference to her recent appearance in the Netflix docuseries or is directed at her former ‘friendship’ with Meghan remains to be seen.
