Oprah Winfrey and other celebrities branded ‘out of touch’ after expensive gifts and celebrations

Oprah Winfrey has divided fans after suggesting that a $100 gift was ‘not expensive’ for a man buying a present for his under the weather mother.

The talk show host, who is worth a staggering $2.5 billion, was providing inspiration for Christmas presents when a fan asked for an idea to cheer up his mum over the festive period.

A TikTok showing Oprah’s advice has now gone viral gaining nearly one million views as Oprah said: “A wonderful thing is that jewellery box that I had on Favourite Things. A beautiful red jewellery box with a little…”

“That’s too expensive for me,” the man interjected when asking for a lower budget and something more sentimental.

In response, Oprah questioned whether a gift worth around $100 was ‘too expensive’ for a mother before providing an alternative spontaneous present in the form of a card containing the top ten reasons why he loved his mother.

The conversation split fans in the comments section but the majority called Oprah ‘out of touch’ for her price points.

One said: “A billionaire doesn’t understand like the rest of us,” while another added: “She was SHOOK that $100 was expensive. ‘Do they even make things that cost less than $100?’”

Jennifer’s mother Melissa hosted the event in New York, with Jennifer commending the hostess in an Instagram post and giving a shoutout to ‘all the creatives’ involved in throwing the humongous bash.

Kim Kardashian

As many in the UK are worrying about finances, with nurses, airport staff and train drivers continuing to strike for pay conditions over the festive season, Kim Kardashian continues to celebrate Christmas with extravagant decorations.

The social media star has already revealed that she hires a pianist to come to her home every morning to wake up her children with calming Christmas music during the ‘hectic’ period as well as many trees dotted around her California home.
