Ever since Meghan Markle first started dating Prince Harry, it is easy to forget that he had a romantic past before meeting the former Suits actress. Although Prince Harry has had more than a few dalliances with women over the years, Chelsy Davy and Cressida Bonas have without question both played important roles in his life.

In particular, Prince Harry’s relationship with Chelsy Davy seems to have had a pivotal impact on his life as he discusses her in his memoir, Spare. In the book, he talks at length about when they met and how she seemed disinterested in his position as a royal. “I’d always wanted to know what it might be like to meet a woman and not have her eyes widened at the mention of my title but instead to widen them myself, using my mind, my heart. With Chelsy, that seemed a real possibility. Not only was she uninterested in my title, she seemed bored by it. ‘Oh you’re a prince? Yawn.”

The couple, who had an on/off relationship from 2004 to 2010 eventually decided to call it quits because Chelsy didn’t want a life in the public eye. However, Chelsy and Harry met up once again in 2011 when she attended the wedding of Prince William to Kate Middleton.

Although Chelsy and Harry hadn’t been in regular contact since their break up, Harry revealed in Spare that he felt jealous of her that night.

“There were loads of feelings still there, feelings I’d suppressed, feelings I hadn’t suspected,” he revealed. “I also felt a certain way about the hungry-looking men trailing after her, circling her, nagging her to dance. Jealousy got the better of me that night, and I told her so, which made me feel worse. And a bit pathetic.”

Despite the awkwardness of this encounter, Chelsy Davy still attended the wedding of Prince Harry to Meghan Markle. Today, Chelsy is a jewellery designer, and is married to Sam Cutmore-Scott.

She also welcomed a little boy called Leo earlier last year.

Prince Harry’s other serious girlfriend was actress Cressida Bonas and the couple were introduced to one another by Harry’s cousin, Princess Eugenie at a festival in the summer of 2012. Prince Harry also spoke about Cressida in Spare and said: “There was massive affection, deep and abiding loyalty-but not love everlasting.”

Prince William and Kate Middleton were reportedly very keen on Cressida and Harry also revealed that he did consider marrying her. The couple dated for two years between 2012 and 2014. Like Chelsy, Cressida has remained on good terms with Harry and also attended his wedding to Meghan.

Cressida married Harry Wentworth-Stanley in a private wedding ceremony in July 2020. Harry is the son of the Marchioness of Milford Haven. The couple now share a son together and recently shared a photograph of him and her dog on her Instagram with the caption: “Welcoming 2023 with these 2 treasures.”
