Will Prince Harry be able to reconcile with King Charles now that he is attending the coronation alone?

It is expected that Prince Harry’s visit to the UK for his father’s coronation will be very short

The decision has been made, Prince Harry is to attend the coronation alone and Meghan Markle is to stay behind in California. So, now the speculation starts over on how long will he be staying for and will he have a role in the day?

According to the Daily Mail, although “his decision to attend the Westminster Abbey Coronation service is viewed as a potential olive branch by royal insiders,” it is thought that “he is not expected to take part in the procession after the service or join other members of the Royal Family on the balcony of Buckingham Palace, or for other celebrations.”

So, if Prince Harry is literally going to fly in and out of the UK, is there any chance of a reconciliation between him and King Charles. I spoke to PR expert Kieran Elsby of Media PR Global to hear his views on whether this could be a possibility.

“He’s going, isn’t he?” Kieran told me. “I think that is the first step towards any reconciliation, that very first step. It will be a special day seeing his dad being crowned the King, history in the making and despite all the issues, Harry knows he just cannot miss this and will want to support his dad. Whether they will get much chance to reconcile is another thing with it being a hectic event, but who knows a few minutes alone can make the world of difference?

When it comes to his thoughts about Meghan Markle not attending, Kieran believes that “we shouldn’t be too concerned. “With two young children, travel time lag and keeping them well behaved during a long event (even though it is shorter than others), it will be hard for anyone to manage.

I also think that Megan may not want to detract from the coronation and this could be a key step if the family are to reconcile in the future.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle released a statement to say that “The Duke of Sussex will attend the Coronation service at Westminster Abbey on May 6th. The Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.”

According to The Independent, “King Charles III is reportedly ‘very disappointed’ that his daughter-in-law the Duchess of Sussex nor his grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, will attend his and Queen Camilla’s coronation next month.”

Although King Charles may be ‘disappointed’ at not seeing Meghan and his grandchildren, he can take some pleasure that his youngest son will be there to witness such a historic event. However, if Prince Harry is planning a very ‘quick trip’ to the UK, at present, it looks unlikely that there will be any time in the diary for him to meet up with his brother and father.
