A spokesperson for the Prince has said that Harry and Meghan were being chased by paparazzi for over two hours with multiple collisions taking place.

They said: “This relentless pursuit, lasting over two hours, resulted in multiple near collisions involving other drivers on the road, pedestrians and two NYPD (New York Police Department) officers.

"While being a public figure comes with a level of interest from the public, it should never come at the cost of anyone's safety."

The Prince's spokesperson added that the dissemination of the images, given the dangerous way in how they were obtained, encourages similar practices.

The collision takes place the day after Meghan attended a New York City gala to collect a Women of Vision Award for her “global advocacy to empower and advocate on behalf of women and girls” and philanthropic work through Archewell.

With Prince Harry by her side, the event marked the first public appearance the couple have made since Harry attended King Charles’ coronation on 6 May alone.

Meghan remained in Montecito to celebrate their son Archie’s fourth birthday before Harry flew back to join them while the rest of the Royal Family returned to Buckingham Palace for the historic Buckingham Palace balcony picture.
