Imagine your wedding is less than a month away. Now, think about how you would feel if two ‘close friends’ still haven’t RSVP’d? Without question, the majority of you would be very annoyed. ‘Annoyed’ because from a manners point of view, it is incredibly rude. Secondly, your table plan would have been planned and printed, so the last thing you would want from a logistics point of view is for ‘this couple’ to say that they could now attend.

Now, imagine how the organisers of King Charles’s Coronation must be feeling…. According to The Mirror, sources to Prince Harry “confirmed ‘no decision,’ had been made by the couple and it means organisers in charge of details are unable to sign off on their plans.”

When it comes to the cut-off-date for guests being able to RSVP for the coronation, it was on April 3, so it is no wonder it is causing a headache for the organisers as they of course have to organise transport and security, as well as the all-important seating plan.

So, why have Prince Harry and Meghan Markle not decided whether they will attend the coronation or not?

Although there was speculation that the couple were making a list of demands including a balcony appearance, this has reportedly been refuted by Palace insiders. Perhaps Prince Harry and Meghan have not replied because they are quietly negotiating their roles in the coronation behind the scenes?

One possible consideration for the couple is whether Prince Harry attends alone without Meghan.  Prince Harry may decide to go by himself to the coronation and Meghan Markle may stay at home to celebrate Prince Archie’s fourth birthday.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision not to reply to the coronation as yet has not only caused headaches for the organisers, but has naturally provoked criticism. According to LBC, “Harry and Meghan have been slammed as ‘childish, self-centred and self-obsessed’ for not having confirmed their attendance for the King’s coronation, even after the RSVP deadline has passed.”

According to The Daily Express, “planning for King Charles’s Coronation has reportedly been delayed because of (Prince) Harry and Meghan.” However, a royal source told the paper that despite all of this, “there is huge confidence everything will go to plan on the day.”
