Since leaving their roles in the Royal family and taking a step back from Royal duties in 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been extremely busy building an empire of their own.

It has been reported that Meghan is set to sign a lucrative deal with luxury fashion house Dior. The Duchess of Sussex is clearly a fan of the brand and has worn Dior on many occasions.

We take a look back at everything the couple have accomplished since leaving the Royal family and their journey to Dior. 

Netflix Documentary

In 2020 Prince Harry and Meghan Forbes reported that they had signed a deal with Netflix for $100 million. As part of the agreement, the couple were expected to produce and create content including documentaries, films, children's shows, and docuseries, among other projects.

The first of those projects was the ‘Harry & Meghan’ three-part documentary which aired in 2022. The series was filmed during the time they were leaving the UK and behind the scenes footage of the couple and with interviews in their home. 

They went on to present the ‘Live to Lead’ seven-episode series. It sees the life stories of several world leaders committed to making a difference in the world. Including Young Swedish activist Greta Thunberg, former New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and Freedom fighter Albie Sachs.

Spotify: Archetypes Podcast

That same year Harry and Meghan signed a multi-year deal with music streaming service Spotify for a reported $20 million for her to create and produce podcasts. 

Meghan released her podcast in August 2022 where she speaks to celebrities, experts and historians about the history of stereotypes that women still have to face. Her guests included close friend and Tennis star, Serena Williams, singer Mariah Carey, socialite Paris Hilton and actress Mindy Kaling.

The podcast was a success and even won the prestigious Gracie Award. However, the streaming platform recently cut ties with the couple and her podcast has ended after just one series. 

The  Oprah Winfrey Interview 

After the couple moved to Montecito in search for a private and quieter life. The couple decided to do a bombshell interview with TV host Oprah Winfrey in March 2021. The former Royals spoke candidly about leaving the monarchy and how they had been treated.

The biggest revelations were when Meghan explained she didn't receive any help with her mental health during the ongoing press intrusion and she ‘didn’t want to be alive anymore’. The pair also revealed there were ‘concerns’ over the colour of their son Archie’s skin, which sparked outrage among the public and calls for the person who made the comment to be named. 

Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor 

It was joyous news for the couple after they welcomed daughter Lilibet in June 2021, soon after the controversy over the Oprah interview had started to calm down. Harry and Meghan - who also have son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor - They named their daughter after the childhood nickname for his grandmother Queen Elizabeth in a sweet tribute. 

Harry and Meghan succeed in their fight to have their children hold Royal titles and are later named Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. 

Prince Harry's 'Spare'

It was the best-selling book of the year and broke the record for fastest-selling non-fiction book of all time, selling 1.43 million copies worldwide on the first day of release. According to the Daily Mail Prince Harry made an estimated $20 million from his book deal.

Although he faced backlash from the controversy around his book and his sit-down interview with ITV’s Tom Bradby the memoir was still a success. 

King Charles III Coronation 

After weeks of speculation over the ‘will they, won’t they’ attend the Royal Coronation. Prince Harry decided to attend the biggest event in his father’s life leaving his wife and children at home. King Charles’ coronation was on the same day as Harry’s son Archie’s birthday so he flew straight home after the King was crowned. Although he did fly back a few months later to give evidence in the trial against the Mirror newspaper. 

Hello Dior

Prince Harry and Meghan may have left the Royal family wondering how they would make money on their own and keep up their luxury lifestyle. But even after failed brand deals as long as they keep working, they will come back fighting. 

With a new Dior deal on the horizon and Meghan’s blog 'The Tig' set to make a comeback it seems the couple are completely fine without the Royal family.
