As Prince Harry arrives in court flanked by security officers for the fourth day of his privacy hearing, it is easy to forget that his wife Meghan Markle has been faced with her sister Samantha Markle’s libel lawsuit earlier this year. According to Newsweek, “Samantha Markle is suing for libel after the Duchess of Sussex told Oprah Winfrey she grew up as an only child during a March 2021 CBS tell-all. The case also relates to passages from the book Finding Freedom.”

Meghan Markle’s lawyers were hoping to have the case thrown out and the deadline has now reportedly been pushed back to July 3. According to The Independent, “The ruling means that Samantha’s lawyers will question the prince and duchess before July if the case continues; the deadline for disclosure of expert reports is 5 May, rebuttal is 5 June and the discovery deadline is 3 July, according to court documents.”

As if Prince Harry and Meghan Markle don’t have enough to deal with, it still has not yet been announced if the couple will attend the King’s coronation in May. Although Prince Harry has been in London for four days, it is thought he has not seen his brother, Prince William, nor his father, King Charles who is currently in Germany with Camilla, Queen Consort.

Although many were surprised that Prince Harry attended the four-day court hearing, according to the BBC, “We still do not know if he will attend his father’s coronation. We do know he wanted to be in court for what are really early stages of this particular case. Prince Harry does not mince his words when it comes to the media.”
