What’s next for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle after the coronation and will they reconcile with the royals?

Prince Harry rushed off after the coronation to get back for his son’s fourth birthday while Meghan Markle was photographed on a ‘hike’ the day afterwards.

The ‘Will Prince Harry and Meghan Markle attend the coronation?’ question seemed to carry on for months before it was finally announced that Prince Harry would be attending alone. No sooner has the coronation weekend ended than the speculation has begun over what the Prince and Meghan have planned next?

Although it was highly unlikely that there would have been ‘any time’ for Prince Harry to even talk, let alone reconcile with his father King Charles and brother, Prince William, it has been reported that he did stop off at Buckingham Palace before going to Heathrow airport, but didn’t see any of his family there.

Despite reports saying that Prince Harry was not invited to appear on the balcony with other members of the royal family after his father was crowned King, Sky News reported that “the Queen’s sister and lady in attendance, who are also not working royals, were on the balcony for the historic moment.”

When it came to the coronation, Prince Harry was seated next to Princess Eugenie’s husband, Jack Brooksbank, and was in the third row with Prince Andrew, two rows behind his brother, Prince William. Although he smiled and was seen happily chatting with his cousins, there was as to be expected, no interaction between the brothers.

Body language Judi James told The Sun’s Fabulous magazine, “Despite his act of bravado there were some telling moments and expressions from Harry, like this pensive one when he seemed to glance across at William” She then goes on to say that “William is clearly not about to look back here and Harry’s severe side-eye glance suggests he’s sneaking this thunderous look almost unintentionally.”

As expected, Prince Harry did not hang around long after the coronation, and despite a short ‘pit-stop’ at the palace, hurried to Heathrow to catch a BA flight back to his wife Meghan and Prince Archie’s fourth birthday celebrations. The day after the coronation, Meghan Markle was photographed on a hike with friends, Markus Anderson and Heather Dorak.

Meghan’s friend Markus Anderson reportedly introduced Meghan to Prince Harry and is a Toronto-based consultant for private members club Soho House. He is known as one of her ‘best friends’ and was photographed next to her at the Invictus Games in 2017. Markus was said in the past to have been good friends with Jessica Mulroney, however, that ‘friendship’ is likely to have fizzled out after Meghan fell out with her.

As for Heather Dorak, she is a good friend of Meghan’s and owns six Pilates Platinum studios and is based in California. Before Meghan Markle married Prince Harry, Heather was often pictured on Meghan Markle’s social media.

According to reports, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry had a low-key celebration for their son Prince Archie’s fourth birthday and were believed to have been joined by Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland. Meghan is also said to have baked a lemon cake for the occasion, using fruit from their garden.

So now that the coronation is over and Prince Archie’s fourth birthday has come and gone, what’s next for the couple? According to The Express, “Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have entered discussions with Netflix about appearing in a new documentary, according to sources close to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. The documentary will feature the couple visiting communities in South Africa where they will be shown helping build houses and focusing on humanitarian efforts.”

As for what will happen next with Prince Harry’s relationship with his father, King Charles, and Prince William, it is unlikely that there is going to be any opportunity in the near future for the brothers in particular to address their many issues. King Charles toasted his grandson prince Archie at a post-coronation buffet, but Prince Harry wasn't there to witness it. However, this could be seen as an attempt by the monarch to hold out an ‘olive branch’ to his youngest son.

According to The Daily Mail, “A well-placed source said that, while most members of the Royal Family ‘breathed a sigh of relief’ that Harry didn’t join them, the King, 74, seemed ‘genuinely quite disappointed that he didn’t stay.”

It is easy to forget with all the pageantry and pomp of the coronation that the King and Prince Harry are just a father and son, and like all fathers and sons, having a ‘fractious’ relationship can cause great pain for those involved.
