Only a few days ago, it seemed increasingly unlikely that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle would attend the coronation of King Charles on May 6. The couple were reportedly informed that they would need to leave Frogmore Cottage, effectively leaving them without a base in the UK.

It was reported that one of the reasons behind this was that Prince Harry might have ‘overstepped the mark’ when it came to his snipes towards Camilla, the Queen Consort, in his memoir Spare.

Prince Harry also took part in a controversial live stream with Dr Gabor Maté. Although he was careful not to mention the Queen Consort, and his brother Prince William, he did intimate that the lack of physical affection he experienced as a child has led him to adopt a different approach now he is a father. “It leaves me in a position now, as a father to two kids of my own, making sure that I smother them with love and affection,” he said.

It would appear however that Harry’s livestream has not impacted negatively on King Charles’s decision to invite them to his coronation as a spokesperson for the Sussexes has confirmed that they have been invited.  “I can confirm The Duke has recently received email correspondence from his Majesty’s office regarding the coronation,” a spokesperson for the couple told The Times. The spokesperson continued to say “An immediate decision on whether The Duke and Duchess will attend will not be disclosed by us at the time.”

According to the Daily Mail, Frogmore Cottage is reported to be available to Meghan and Harry if they do decide to attend the coronation.

PeopleWorld spoke exclusively to Kieran Elsby, Director of Media PR Global to hear his views on what he thinks about King Charles’s decision to invite Harry and Meghan to his coronation and whether the couple will accept or not. “King Charles’s decision to invite Harry and Meghan to his coronation shows some real class,” he explains. . “Firstly, however, disappointed he is with Harry, he is his father, and he will want his family with him.”

When I asked Kieran whether King Charles’s decision to invite Harry and Meghan could be seen as an olive branch to the couple, he agreed that it could be. However, what he actually believes it shows is “King Charles can rise above the noise from Harry and Meghan,” he explains.  “Charles is playing his cards brilliantly and his actions dispel many of the couple's so-called grievances.”

Now, to the all-important question, does Kieran think Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will attend the coronation? “I think the invite puts them in a rather uncomfortable situation, “ he reveals. “From their public outpouring, most would expect them to decline the invite. I personally think they will attend and whilst this may look hypocritical, the truth is the coronation is the hottest ticket in town and many US networks will be bidding for Harry to talk about it afterwards.”

Kieran also thinks that another reason why Prince Harry and Meghan Markle might attend the coronation as their popularity seems to be waning in the States. “Rumours are that Harry and Meghan aren't getting as many big invites in the USA as they were,” he explains. Attending the coronation will put them in their self-generated limelight.”

In all the furore of Prince Harry’s memoir Spare and his recent controversial livestream, it is easy to forget that by stripping everything back, King Charles and Prince Harry are simply a father and son. Without question, King Charles on a purely paternal level would want his youngest son at one of the most monumental occasions of his life.

When I asked Kieran whether he believes a reconciliation between Prince Harry and his father could be ‘on the cards’ if he and Meghan Markle do attend the coronation, his answer was emphatic. “I don't expect a reconciliation at the coronation or any time soon, “ he reveals. “This is because  it won't fit into the continued narrative of the couple as they are set to have more books and series to sell.”
