Thousands of racegoers will descend upon Berkshire to watch the Royal Ascot. The five day event begins next week and as it’s going to be a very hot few days we look at everything you need to know about the racing event. 

What is the Royal Ascot? 

The Royal Ascot is one of the biggest flat horse racing events of the year at the Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire. It’s wildly popular with racing fans, celebrities and Royals. Queen Elizabeth would often cheer on her beloved horses. King Charles and Queen Camilla are reportedly set to attend this year to 'fill his mother’s role.'

If you haven't got a ticket to attend the event then fear not as the five days will be broadcast on ITV1. The programme will start on Tuesday 20 June from 1:30pm - 6:00pm. Ed Chamberlin and Francesca Cumani will host, present the show's coverage and speak to racing analysis. Sky Sports racing will also provide coverage as well as NBC for US audiences. 

When is Ladies Day? 

The most fashionable day of the week-long event is Ladies Day which is on Thursday 22 June. There is no dress code for the event but ladies are encouraged to dress in smart daywear with appropriate footwear. According to the official Royal Ascot website “Ladies are kindly reminded that formal daywear is a requirement in the Royal Enclosure.” For more information on the dress-code see Royal Ascot - What to Wear

Are there any Package deals? 

VIP tickets and hospitality packages are available. They can include anything from a glass of fizz on arrival to a food course meal and bottles of champagne. Hospitality Finder has some great deals; prices may vary. 

Will there be protests? 

Like the Grand National and the Derby that have previously been targeted by animal rights groups ‘Animal Rising.’ It’s been reported that the Royal Ascot may also be targeted. However discussions with Thames Valley Police has led to officials being confident any disruptions or disorder will be dealt with. 

Which celebrities will be there?

There will be a whole of famous stars at the event, last year we saw royals Zara Tindall, Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh Sophie Wessex and Catherine, Princess of Wales were all spotted enjoying the racing. Whist TV presenters Holly Willoughby, Maya Jama and Charlotte Hawkins all attended during throughout the week

When is it?

The Royal Ascot starts on Tuesday 20 June - Saturday 24 June.
