The Royals always seem to be just out of reach from the public whether it be behind the high fences of Buckingham Palace or the immense security measures put in place to protect the world’s most famous family; however glimpses of what goes on behind the scenes have been shown through Prince Harry’s recent tell-all memoir and documentary.

In the wake of this, ITVX is releasing a documentary called ‘The Real Crown: Inside the House of Windsor’ with never before seen footage and first-hand accounts concerning personal challenges that Queen Elizabeth faced during her 70-year-reign.

The five-part series looks into the ‘lives, loves, scandals, trials and tribulations’ of the Royal Family, which certainly have been heightened a lot in the past decade, and airs later this month.

While the late monarch and matriarch of the family will be central to the series, audiences will be able to see how other members of the Firm dealt with historic moments including King Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Harry to name a few.

One of the largest bombshells ITVX will cover is Prince Andrew’s ‘overconfidence’ going into the infamous BBC Newsnight interview where he discussed his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein, which in turn led to him being stripped of his titles and patronages amid public backlash.

In the documentary, Tory peer Lord Patten said: “[Prince Andrew] thought he was capable of getting away with some answer which inevitably turns around and hits him over the head. It says he's not plugged into the same reality as the rest of us.”

In addition to Prince Andrew’s interview, viewers will be able to see the conflict between ‘love and duty’ when Elizabeth faces a difficult decision regarding her sister’s marriage to gardener Roddy Llewellyn as well as her verdict that Prince Harry could go to Afghanistan but Prince William could not as a result of being the Heir.

Airing just two weeks before King Charles’ coronation on 6 May, the first episode of the five-part series highlights the first steps Charles made to becoming King - when he was crowned Prince of Wales.

Aptly named, audiences can watch 'The Real Crown' from 20 April before seeing King Charles adorn the real crown in Westminster Abbey alongside ‘Queen Camilla’ days later.
