Last year, not only did King Charles and his siblings lose their ‘darling mama’, but the whole Commonwealth and the UK lost their mother figure as Elizabeth II passed away in September after 70 years on the throne.

On his first Mother’s Day since Elizabeth’s death, King Charles shared a post to Instagram and Twitter on the Royal Family’s account showing a young monarch with his mother.

The sweet picture was accompanied by a heart-warming caption that read: “To all mothers everywhere, and to those who may be missing their mums today, we are thinking of you and wishing you a special #MothersDay.”

King Charles’ message and photo were not the only tribute made by members of the Royal Family on Sunday 19 March, with the Princess of Wales and the Queen Consort also sharing posts - PeopleWorld takes a look.

Kate Middleton

The Prince and Princess of Wales posted pictures of Kate Middleton in a tree with her three children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

With the images gaining over one million likes, the credited Royal photographer Matt Porteous shared a behind-the-scenes picture of Kate also cradling Louis in her arms.

Alongside King Charles’ tribute for his late ‘mamma’, the Royal Family shared a Mother’s Day post for Camilla’s mother Rosalind Shand.

Rosalind passed away in 1994 aged 72 after battling the bone disease osteoporosis, with which Camilla has since raised awareness of the condition by visiting bone units in UK hospitals.

Sarah Ferguson

Sarah Ferguson shared pictures of her daughters Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie to her 495,000 Instagram followers, with the caption: “I’m so proud of my girls and the beautiful women and mothers they have grown up to be. I feel extremely blessed to call them mine. My darlings, you are my sunshine always and forever.”

The Duchess of York is not only a mother but a grandmother to two, with another one on the way - Princess Beatrice gave birth to her first daughter Sienna in September 2021 while Princess Eugenie is not only expecting but welcomed her son August two years ago.

Ahead of becoming a mother of two, Princess Eugenie shared an unseen snap of her holding hands with August in a frosty field.

The touching tribute comes a week after Princess Eugenie celebrated International Women’s Day by posting a picture of her mother the Duchess of York and her sister Beatrice while on a winter trip.

Meghan Markle

Although the Royal Family were snap happy with their Mother’s Day posts, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were radio silent on their social media.

However, this could be a result of the US celebrating Mother’s Day on the second Sunday in May compared to the British holiday.
