Life may seem plastic and fantastic in Barbie World, but Tasha Ghouri sadly missed out on appearing in the upcoming Greta Gerwig film after getting through to the final auditions as a dancer.

The 2022 Love Island finalist, who actually took on the role of Barbie in the infamous heartbeat challenge in the Majorcan villa last summer, took to social media to reveal how close she was to starring alongside the likes of Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling and Will Ferrell as the movie’s trailer comes out.

While sharing a picture of Tasha on the Barbie movie poster, the dancer and model said: “Fun fact I got to the final round of the barbie film audition as a dancer but didn’t get the job - filming was at the same time as LI, crazy how the universe works…”

In honour of things happening for a reason and trusting the process, Tasha entered the villa last year as the first woman with a cochlear implant and ended up making it to the final with her partner Andrew Le Page.

Since then, Tasha has been propelled into the spotlight, picking up numerous modelling gigs for Ann Summers and Ebay to name a few as well as building a solid platform to talk about her ‘superpower’.

Writing for Glamour Magazine, Tasha said: “I'm passionate about voicing my experiences and helping younger people accept and embrace themselves. When I stepped into that villa, I knew I was breaking boundaries and changing how people with hearing impairments are perceived. But I haven't always felt as confident as I do now.”

Tasha and Barbie have always been linked in some respect. Not only did Tasha come within a hair’s breadth of starring in the Barbie movie and transform into the Mattel doll for a challenge on the ITV dating show, but Tasha revealed how excited she was when Barbie created a doll with a hearing aid.

Upon its release, Tasha’s ‘inner child got so excited’ for the doll company to represent young kids with hearing impairments.

Tasha added: “The fact that Barbie's releasing this new doll is a positive step, but there's still so much for us to fight for. I want all young kids to know that having a superpower shouldn't stop you from achieving your dreams. If anything, it makes you special and unique.”
