Although it is not quite Glastonbury, the Houghton Festival in Norfolk combines both art and music, so therefore it is not really a surprise that Catherine, Princess of Wales decided to recently see what it’s all about.

According to the Daily Mail, “The Princess, 41, is understood to have made her first ever visit to a music festival at the weekend, albeit a very upper-class one.” The article goes on to say that before deciding to go to the festival, the Princess was “dining with her Norfolk neighbours, the Marquess and Marchioness of Cholmondeley, David and Rose, at their Palladian stately home, Houghton Hall. At the time, the Houghton Festival was taking place on their 1,000-acre estate.”

It is understood that Catherine, Princess of Wales attended the festival without Prince William. The Houghton Festival, which has 65K followers on Instagram, shared a photograph at the beginning of August Giant Steps, a dance club & nightclub, posted on their feed that they had “programmed 36 DJs and 73 hours of non-stop music-vinyl playback only. It’s a special treat we don’t take for granted. Thanks to Houghton for giving us a space to push the boundaries on the party.”

Earlier this year, The Marquess of Cholmondeley was appointed Lord-in-Waiting to King Charles. Amongst the boys who were pages of honour for King Charles’s coronation, the Marquess and Marchioness of Cholmondeley’s son Lord Oliver Cholmondeley was chosen (the other page boys were Prince George, Master Nicholas Barclay and Master Ralph Tollemache. Queen Camilla’s pages were her great-nephew, Master Arthur Elliot and her grandsons, Master Gus and Master Louis Lopes and Master Freddy Parker Bowles.
