Catherine, Princess of Wales chose a green bespoke Andrew Gn dress and a Philip Treacy hat for Trooping the Colour 2023 to reflect her new association with the Irish Guards and wore her late mother in law Princess Diana’s sapphire earrings. The Princess of Wales rode to the event in a carriage alongside Queen Camilla and her three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

The Princess of Wales does not normally opt for green for Trooping the Colour but this was obviously chosen specifically as she took over the role of Colonel of the Irish Guards from her husband, Prince William, last year.

For Trooping the Colour 2022, Catherine, Princess of Wales chose an ivory Alexander McQueen coat dress and a navy blue and white hat by Philip Treacy. Before 2022, the Princess of Wales, Prince William and their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis last attended the Trooping the Colour parade in 2019.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Trooping the Colour was scaled back in 2021 and 2020. In 2019, the Princess of Wales also opted for Alexander McQueen and chose a yellow dress; she also wore a hat by Philip Treacy.

As for what she wore in 2018, yes you guessed right, once again, the Princess of Wales opted for her favourite designer Alexander McQueen (she also wore the designer brand to the King’s coronation, her own wedding and many important events over the years).

In 2018, she chose a pale blue Alexander McQueen dress that coordinated with the one Queen Camilla chose. My favourite Trooping the Colour dress that the Princess of Wales has worn has to be the pink Alexander McQueen dress she chose for the 2017 Trooping the Colour. This time, she coordinated it with a hat in the same colour by Jane Taylor.

In 2016, Catherine, Princess of Wales wore the same Alexander McQueen dress that she wore to Princess Charlotte’s christening and wore a Philip Treacy hat with it. One has to go back to 2015 for a designer brand other than Alexander McQueen as on this occasion, Catherine, Princess of Wales chose a floral Catherine Walker coat dress.
