Twitter reacts to Johnny Depp’s $20m Dior deal that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were allegedly pursuing

While Johnny Depp’s bank account may be looking pretty good and green after winning a final fee of $1 million from his defamation trial against Amber Heard and signing a massive new $20 million plus deal with Dior, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s funds may be slightly lower since leaving royal duties.

Despite earning money from their respective Netflix productions and book deals, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex may have been hoping for a further cash injection from the French fashion house after being seen wearing garments in recent weeks.

Prince Harry notably wore Dior to his father King Charles’ coronation last week and to his London high court case earlier in the year as Meghan was spotted donning Dior on a hike with friends in Montecito.

However, the pair were deprived of signing a multi-million dollar deal with Dior as the company revealed they had paid their long-time 'Sauvage' partner Johnny Depp a whopping figure of more than $20 million for over three years for their fragrance campaign.

This lump sum marks the biggest men’s fragrance pact ever, eclipsing the likes of Robert Pattinson’s Dior homme deal worth $12 million and Brad Pitt’s $7 million for Chanel No.5.

As fans rejoice that Johnny is making back his losses since his defamation trial against former-wife Amber Heard, they also reacted to news that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were trying to get the gig on Twitter.

One said: “Just seen Meghan and Harry [had] tried to get the Dior deal. I mean have they seen Johnny Depp… there’s literally no contest who’s right for that campaign, have they seen how cool JD is?? what a joke,” while posting a video of Depp’s previous Dior advert, as another tweeted: “I think Meghan is delusional to think she would be on the same level as Johnny Depp. And Harry just has no idea about much of anything lol. These two are something else.”

Despite Johnny Depp allegedly ‘depriving’ Meghan and Harry of a potential gig, other social media users commended Dior for ‘sticking by’ the American-based royal couple since their departure from the royal family as they did when Depp was facing his lawsuit.

Replying to Dior’s tweet of Harry’s three-piece coronation suit, a user tweeted: “Thank you for stepping up for [Prince Harry and Meghan] as you did for Johnny Depp.”

Therefore, although Depp may have won a multi-million dollar deal, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may have seemingly still won in the eyes of fashion experts and fans.
