Rebekah Vardy is in a new row against rival Coleen Rooney over the £1.8 million legal bill she is due to pay after losing the libel trial.

The libel case dubbed 'Wagatha Christie' began when Coleen shared a Twitter post accusing Rebekah of leaking stories to the press which led to Rebekah sue Coleen for libel. Rebekah denied she was responsible for the stories and the judge ruled that Coleen's post was 'substantially true'.

Wagatha Christie was the biggest court battle of 2022, not only was it a trial of right and wrong but it also gained media attention from the style war. Both ladies attended court with their footballer husbands for support wearing well thought out and perfectly planned outfits.

The trial has since inspired a Channel 4 TV-drama series and a play in London’s West End. But if you thought the battle was over then think again.

According to The Sun, Rebekah reportedly ‘hit the roof’ when she was handed Coleen’s legal bill with some of the figures having increased by over 300 percent. After losing the libel trial in July, wife of Leicester City Jaime Vardy, Rebekah now has to pay 90 percent of the legal costs.

Coleen’s legal team originally budgeted £500,000 with the amount to be assessed but Rebekah has now been hit with a huge bill of £1.8 million. The bill is believed to include a £1994 stay at a five-star Nobu hotel in London for one of her team. £225 mini bar, breakfast and lounge drinks as well as other legal costs for her lawyer David Sherborne and two experts on her legal team.

A source explained that Rebekah is willing to pay what she owes but has now got her legal team to investigate the costs asking for a detailed breakdown of the bill.

The insider said “In court Coleen’s costs were budgeted at just over £500,000 and Becky thinks she’s pushing her luck by asking for almost £2 million. Her legal team has said that some of the costs appear to have been inflated.”

This latest row could mean the footballer’s wives may end up back in court to face each other again.
