Prince Harry has been seen for the first time since leaving the UK and appearing in court over the phone-hacking trial against the Mirror Group Newspaper. The Royal was recently spotted sitting in the crowds at the Warrior Games in San Diego, California.

Prince Harry looked relaxed and happy as he was photographed on Monday (12 June) chatting to family members as they watched their loved ones compete in the annual sporting event.

The Warriors Games is an adaptive-sporting competition that celebrates and supports the wounded, ill and injured US military service members active and veterans from all branches in the US military. Competitors from US Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine’s and United States Special Operations Command (SOCOM) all compete in the event.

The adaptive sports challenges include: archery, cycling, sitting volleyball, swimming, track, field, wheelchair basketball, wheelchair rugby, shooting, indoor rowing and powerlifting.

This year will be the 13th anniversary of the event that began in 2010. This year the annual event was held at the Naval Air Station North Island in San Diego, California

Prince Harry was inspired by the Warrior Games in Colorado when he attended in 2013 and wanted to create his own version and bring it to the UK.

In 2014 the first ever international multi-sporting event named the Invictus Games was held at London’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, with backing from Boris Johnson who was Mayor of London at the time. It brought together over 400 competitors from 13 nations around the world.

Prince Harry served in the Royal Army for ten years working his way up through the ranks to become Captain and with two tours of Afghanistan. Since leaving the army in 2015 ,Harry has continued working with military personnel and supporting veterans.

He is the founder of the Invictus Games and patron of many military charities, including Walking with the Wounded.
