According to The Sunday Times Rich List, King Charles is now worth £600 million

With only a few weeks before his coronation, things are looking very positive for King Charles at present. He is reportedly wealthier than the late Queen, with a personal fortune of £600 million. In last year’s Sunday Times Rich List, her wealth was estimated at £370 million.

According to The Times, “One of Charles’s former aides has described how the King carefully rebuilt his finances after his £17 million divorce settlement from Diana, Princess of Wales in the mid-1990s. As monarch in waiting, Charles assiduously saved some of the profits he received from the Duchy of Cornwall, which has led to him accruing a sizable fortune.”

Before he became King, the then Prince of Wales reportedly saved money from profits he made from the Duchy of Cornwall. According to the Daily Mail, “New analysis suggests in fact the Duchy of Cornwall’s profits had risen to £25.4million a year, with wealth of £1.04billion, It is also well-known for its food products and biscuits although the King donates profits to charity.”

The Duchy of Cornwall estate has now passed down to the new Prince of Wales, Prince William. As well as making money through his own endeavours, King Charles also reportedly inherited nearly £22 billion in assets (plus Buckingham Palace, Kensington Palace, the Duchy of Lancaster and the Duchy of Cornwall), belonging to the Crown Estate after the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth 11.

As if that wasn’t enough, last week, King Charles also made the TIME’S 100 Most Influential People in the World list. According to People, British Vogue editor-in chief and European editorial director of Conde Nast, Edward Enninful said that “The monarchy is not perfect, but in Charles we have a King who understands both tradition and what it takes to evolve with the times. It is a delicate balance and a rare ability.”

In 2021, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were named in the TIME100 list. King Charles is believed to have held peace talks recently with his youngest son, Prince Harry, which reportedly prompted him to agree to attend the coronation.
