As Donald Trump arrived at his Trump Turnberry in South Ayrshire, he was greeted by staff waving “we make Turnberry great again.” Trump himself was wearing a ‘Make America Great Again’ red baseball cap.

Donald Trump is at present on a whistle-stop tour of Scotland and according to the BBC “Mr Trump had visited his Menie Estate golf course near Aberdeen on Monday in his first visit to the UK since 2019. The trip comes as Mr Trump faces court action in the United States.

After being photographed arriving at Trump Turnberry, Donald Trump was spotted playing golf there. The resort has attracted both royalty and A-list celebrities over the years, including both Prince Andrew and Prince Edward.

Celebrities who have visited Trump Turnberry include Rod Stewart, Jack Nicholson, the late Luciano Pavarotti and Bing Crosby. On the resort’s website, there is a black and white photograph of Rod Stewart carrying one of his children, Prince Edward photographed with Ronnie Corbett and the late opera singer, Luciano Pavarotti.

As well as attracting keen golfers, the resort also has a spa and hosts many weddings and events. According to its website “At the heart of the Spa is a 65-foot heated infinity pool where guests can enjoy the spectacular view of Ailsa Craig and the Isle of Arran.” The spa boasts 12 treatment rooms and you can choose from massages, body wraps and facials.

If you fancy staying at the resort, there are deluxe rooms on offer, as well as self-catering cottage suites. I suspect it is The Lighthouse Suite where royals and celebrities might have chosen to stay in previously.

The Lighthouse Suite offers views across the Irish sea and to the Isle of Arran, and as well as a living room with a private terrace, guests can make use of two bedrooms that have their own bathroom and terrace access. The website describes the suite as having “Mimic silk wallpaper and cream, wool carpets provide a doubly luxurious setting. Marble and gold abound in the en-suite bathroom with a separate shower and freestanding bathtub.”
